Hello all!
Jason and Ryan coming to you LIVE from the Harley Pub here in Sheffield. This is an announcement to confirm that we’re Not Dead – we’ve been doing all kinds of things since last posting actually, just been really bad at blogging about them! That’s set to change though, as we feel it important that you realise how awesome we are.
To further this reinvigoration of communication to the nation, Shef Japan Soc has joined the ranks of twitterphiles that you’ve probably heard old people complaining about on the news. Our handle is, funny enough, shefjapansoc, so follow us on Twitter where various committeefolk will be updating sporadically for your entertainment and edification.
In other news, I hope you’ve already got a ticket for our Easter party next week, as we’re threatening the Bowery’s fire safety regs with the number we’ve already given out!
ttfn, ta ta for now

Hey all, just letting the world know that the karaoke night co-hosted by Japan Soc and The Harley pub ended up being great craic
There was Disney, there were brownies, there was mulled wine, there was a smoking jacket… and we even got some members of the public involved eventually
Big congrats to our dark horse winner “Still My Normal Name”, the film studies student who beat the inventor of Singstar himself and got something ridiculous like 9650 points.
We had such fun that we expect to be repeating this event or something very like it in February when we’re all back in town and exams are over. Keep watching the events board!

I know, I know, where the heck has the website been? Well, it’s still a ways from finished, but we’ve finally got the events incorporated, so you can check back here any time you want to find out about the latest greatest society events!
Plus we’ve got a pretty red theme
Speaking of which, I do believe we’re still taking submissions to find the new society logo. Send your ideas and designs to japansoc [at symbol] shef [dot] ac [dot] uk!
Matters still to be fixed up on the site include:
- Modifying the theme (changing the logo, bigger fonts, etc)
- Adding the old content
- Integration with the Forums (they’re still active!)
- Multiple languages
- Changing the smileys to those ones you get on Japanese keitai ^o^
If there’s anything else specific you’d like to see from your society website, do let us know, we’re a responsive bunch
